Alkoomi Wines (often referred to simply as Alkoomi) is an Australian winery based at Frankland River, in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia. It was founded in 1971 by Merv and Judy Lange, who have been described by Ray Jordan, wine writer for The West Australian, as “two of the great pioneers of the WA wine industry”.

In winemaking, time, patience and consistent weather are precious commodities.

Ferngrove Wines, in Frankland River, is one of the world’s most isolated wine estates. While this isolation makes the logistics of winemaking tough, it is also what makes Ferngrove wines distinctly different.

Our cellar door is open daily from Monday to Saturday from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm excluding public holidays.

We are now serving Naked Bean Coffee with the driver receiving a free cup of coffee to enjoy after their long drive to the beautiful Frankland River region.

Our approach to winemaking is based on the principle that the most significant characteristics of a wine come from the soil and the vineyard environment. We aim to make wines that reflect nature rather than the hand of the winemaker. This is the basis of our commitment to sustainable farming and to working the land in accord with the cycles of nature. We carefully nurture the health of the soils in our vineyard and only take from our vineyards as much as can be replaced by natural processes.
